The Princessa

The “Princessa” is a well finished, trim, beginning level lever harp. This instrument was our first to expand into a different appearance than our traditional “ram’s head” design. It has a flared octagonal column, with a scalloped crown on top, which we also incorporated into the Empress. This harp is simpler than the Chamber Harp and the Empress, lighter, and a bit shorter. It is intended for beginning harp students, though it is suited also for adult harpists. This harp has our usual higher string tension with concert harp strings, along with a string spacing consistent with most standard pedal harps. This instrument is ideal for progressing beginning students to transition to a pedal harp. The Princessa also has a veneered spruce soundboard, made in the same way as concert harps. The soundboard design, coupled with the good string tension, plated brass string eyelets, and concert strings give the Princessa excellent sound for a lever harp.

This instrument comes in all of the different wood finishes of our more expensive lever harps: blond, birch, cherry, walnut, African bubinga, sapele, or possibly others. The neck is laminated in hard maple but with the outermost plies in the hardwood of the general finish of the harp. Body panels are of a birch hardwood laminate, veneered on the outside in the hardwood of choice.
